Regarding the by-election for the Mayor of Gangseo-gu, Seoul, the People Power Party reported to the Central Election Commission that the campaign of Jin Gyo-hoon, the Democratic Party candidate, was illegally distributing the candidate’s business cards.
Shin Ju-ho, the full-time deputy spokesperson, stated in a commentary on the 5th, "The People Power Party’s Fair Election Monitoring Team received photos and videos reporting illegal election activities by Jin Gyo-hoon’s campaign," adding, "A person wearing a jumper labeled 'Jin Gyo-hoon candidate’s spouse' is seen together with another campaign worker unlawfully throwing and scattering business cards at commercial areas."

View original imageDeputy Spokesperson Shin emphasized, "In preparation for this by-election, the Gangseo District Election Commission produced a 'Political Relations Law Case Example Book,' which specifies as 'prohibited acts' the distribution or placement of business cards on streets, offices, restaurants, door-to-door insertion, placing them in cars, or putting them into apartment mailboxes or door gaps."
He added, "These actions may constitute illegal election campaigning under Article 254, Paragraph 2, and Article 255, Paragraph 2 of the Public Official Election Act, punishable by up to two years imprisonment or a fine of up to 4 million won."
Deputy Spokesperson Shin warned, "Even if candidate Jin is elected, an unprecedented situation of a 'by-election of a by-election' could occur, resulting in the loss of the mayoral position," urging, "Since clear illegal acts have been confirmed in the video, the Election Commission should promptly investigate and impose strict judgment."

He also stated, "All Gangseo voters who hope for rapid development of Gangseo are acting as eyes and ears to report illegal election activities," warning, "If any attempt is made to orchestrate illegal election campaigns such as a second Saengtaetang incident or a second Daejang-dong fake news distribution, they will face even greater judgment from the people."
