[Asian Games] Compound Archery, Men's Team Silver Medal... Women's Team Bronze Medal
Men finish as runners-up after losing to strong India in the final, missing out on 2 consecutive titles
Women lose to Taiwan in the semifinals, failing to secure 3 consecutive titles
Korean men's compound archery won the silver medal in the team event at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
The Korean team, composed of Joo Jae-hoon (Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power), Yang Jae-won (Sangmu), and Kim Jong-ho (Hyundai Steel), lost 230-235 to India in the men's compound team final held on the 5th at the Puyang Inhu Sports Center Archery Field in Hangzhou, China.
With this, Korean compound archery failed to achieve a consecutive two-time championship in the men's team event at the Asian Games. Korea won the silver medal in the men's team event at the 2014 Incheon Games, when compound archery was introduced, and the gold medal in the men's team event at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games.
Joo Jae-hoon, who has drawn attention as a 'national representative from amateur ranks,' earned his second silver medal. The day before, Joo Jae-hoon teamed up with So Chae-won (Hyundai Mobis) to win the silver medal in the mixed team event. Kim Jong-ho, the 'flagship' of Korean compound archery, finished the tournament without a gold medal. He was a member of the gold medal-winning men's team at the Jakarta-Palembang Games. Yang Jae-won, expected to be the 'next ace' of the men's national team, won a silver medal in his first Asian Games appearance.
In the final, Korea maintained good performance, never shooting below 9 points in any shot. However, India shot more perfectly. Especially in the 3rd end, when Korea was closing the gap, India showed amazing concentration by scoring one shot with 9 points and the rest all with 10 points. Korea finished the 1st end trailing 55-58 and could not overturn the score, settling for the silver medal.
In the earlier women's team event, Korea won the bronze medal. The Korean team, composed of So Chae-won (Hyundai Mobis), Oh Yoo-hyun (Jeonbuk Provincial Office), and Jo Su-a (Hyundai Mobis), lost to Taiwan in the semifinals but defeated Indonesia 232-229 in the third-place match to finish third.
Korea, which won consecutive gold medals in the women's team event at the 2014 Incheon Games and the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games, failed to achieve a three-peat in this event. The 34-year-old eldest sister Oh Yoo-hyun and 22-year-old youngest Jo Su-a won their first Asian Games medals. Oh Yoo-hyun started her career as a recurve archer but switched to compound at the late age of 29 after suffering a shoulder injury.

Having completed the team events with a mixed team silver medal, women's team bronze medal, and men's team silver medal, the compound national team will continue their medal hunt in the individual events on the 7th. So Chae-won has advanced to the final in the women's individual event, while Joo Jae-hoon and Yang Jae-won will compete for the bronze medal in the men's individual event.
