On the 5th, '9988 Happy Together' Event Hosted by Gwangjin Plaza Senior Welfare Center... Celebration Performances Continue Along with the 20th Anniversary Ceremony of Gwangjin Senior Welfare Center
On the 5th, Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) held the ‘9988 Happy Together’ event with local residents at Gwangjin Square to commemorate the ‘27th Senior Citizens Day.’
Senior Citizens Day is a day to express gratitude for the hard work of the elderly who have spread the spirit of respect for the elderly and filial piety and have inherited and developed traditional culture. It has been designated as a legal anniversary on October 2 every year, marking its 27th anniversary this year.
This event was held together with the 20th anniversary ceremony of the opening of the Gwangjin Senior Welfare Center (Director Shin Jae-won), which opened this year. The event was hosted by the Senior Welfare Center and sponsored by Gwangjin-gu. With about 1,000 local residents and seniors attending, a rich festival was held under the theme of ‘Healthy and Happy until 99 years old.’
The commemorative event consisted of a pre-ceremony performance, Part 1 ceremony, and Part 2 participation yard and congratulatory performances. The ceremony, which began with a popera performance, proceeded in the order of introduction of guests, commendation of meritorious persons, scholarship presentation, commemorative and congratulatory speeches, and commemorative photo shooting. In particular, the commendation was awarded to 11 people, including exemplary seniors and welfare center workers who contributed to the activation of senior welfare.
Part 2 was operated as the ‘9988 Happy Together’ participation yard, with experience booths and promotional booths where residents could participate. With a diverse lineup including sock yarn crafts, health consultations, eco-friendly detergent making, and dementia prevention games, it attracted the interest of residents, and a congratulatory performance by an invited singer followed, adding to the festive atmosphere.
