This contest is organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, which selects best practices through document and on-site evaluations based on 10 criteria including project appropriateness, regional specialization, improvement of living environment, and proactive implementation, targeting small stream maintenance projects nationwide.
Jeomchon Stream is a small stream included in the Godeok Internationalization Plan District land development project. The project was carried out by Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation, the project implementer, with permission from Pyeongtaek City as a non-managing authority, and was completed in 2019.
The city explained that Jeomchon Stream received high evaluations in this contest by focusing on creating waterfront spaces and restoring the river ecosystem. Additionally, improving accessibility to Seojeong-ri Station and expanding the existing river width from 17m to 26m to ensure smooth water flow and secure cross-sectional flow area to prevent damage from heavy rains during the rainy season were also reasons for its selection.
