Seoul Metro (President Baek Ho) recently announced that, in response to the occurrence of random crimes (so-called 'mutjima crimes') in multi-use facilities and crowded spaces and the increasing social anxiety, it will further strengthen cooperation with the Subway Police Unit to ensure the safety of citizens within the subway.
On the 4th, Baek Ho, President of Seoul Metro, and Bae Yong-seok, Chief of the Seoul Subway Police Unit, met at the company headquarters, shared concerns about the risks of crime in the subway and the importance of prevention, and agreed to continuously enhance cooperation to ensure safety.
In this regard, subway security officers belonging to the company and the Subway Police Unit conduct joint patrols twice a day during peak passenger hours, focusing on stations with high crime rates, and continuously supplement measures according to crime patterns and trends to achieve visible crime prevention effects. They also strive for immediate response with police officers in case of crime or disorderly conduct to ensure the safety of citizens and customers.
The joint patrols are organized into two teams per station, patrolling for one hour each in the morning and afternoon at the top 12 stations with the highest crime rates. They conduct station and train patrols and巡回 vulnerable spots, and plan to adjust and implement these measures according to changes in population flow and crime increases in the future.
