Wando-gun Holds 'Integrity Ombudsman Appointment Ceremony' to Implement Transparent County Administration
A Total of 28 Appointed... Enhancing Trust in Military Administration Through Open Governance
Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do appointed the '5th Integrity Ombudsman' and held a capacity-building workshop on the 5th at the Wando Culture and Arts Center to resolve grievances from the residents' perspective and prevent corruption in the public service sector.
According to the county, a total of 28 people were appointed as Integrity Ombudsmen, with 2 to 4 members from each of the 12 eup and myeon, composed of individuals with rich experience and insight in various fields such as agriculture, fisheries, and self-employment.

On the day, explanations about the operation direction of the Integrity Ombudsman were given, along with a special lecture on 'Anti-corruption Laws that Ombudsmen Must Know,' and discussions on enhancing integrity and improving systems were conducted.
The term of the Integrity Ombudsman is two years, during which they will request audits on illegal or unfair administrative actions, jointly investigate repeatedly raised grievances, report public officials' negligence, corruption, or wrongful behavior, and participate in the investigation process of reported matters to support fair audit activities.
Shin Woo-cheol, the county governor who attended the appointment ceremony, urged, "I ask you to actively carry out activities so that residents can strictly observe the county administration, correct illegal and unfair matters, protect residents' rights, and promote administrative efficiency."
He also said, "I hope that through the workshop held for the first time in four years since COVID-19, the capacity of the committee members will be strengthened, and we will take a step closer to becoming a clean Wando."
Meanwhile, Wando-gun has been appointing Integrity Ombudsmen since 2014 and has been making efforts to spread an anti-corruption and integrity culture.
