Yeongdeungpo-gu Ensures Citizen Safety in Preparation for the Seoul World Fireworks Festival
On the 7th at Yeouido Hangang Park, prioritizing citizen convenience and safety for the Seoul World Fireworks Festival... A total of 345 personnel deployed for trash cleanup, illegal street vendor and parking enforcement, on-site response... Separate Disaster Site Integrated Support Headquarters operated for rapid response in case of disaster emergencies
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it has established and will actively support sector-specific support measures for the ‘2023 Seoul World Fireworks Festival,’ prioritizing citizen convenience and safety.
The ‘Seoul World Fireworks Festival’ is a large-scale fireworks festival held annually since 2000 around Yeouido Hangang Park in Seoul. It is Korea’s representative festival, attracting over one million spectators each year to enjoy the spectacular large fireworks lighting up the autumn night sky.
This year’s ‘2023 Seoul World Fireworks Festival’ will be held on the 7th around Yeouido Hangang Park, hosted by Hanwha Group and SBS, with support from the Seoul Metropolitan Government. From 1 PM to 6 PM, citizen participation programs will be operated as pre-events. The main event will feature an opening ceremony followed by a 70-minute fireworks show from 7:20 PM to 8:30 PM, with participation from three countries: China, Poland, and Korea.
Accordingly, the district has thoroughly established safety management support measures in each sector, including ▲administrative support ▲cleaning ▲street maintenance ▲traffic order ▲integrated disaster site support ▲promotion, and a total of 345 staff members will promptly respond to event guidance, various accidents, and civil complaints on-site, centered on the administrative support general team.
First, to ensure citizens can comfortably enjoy the spectacular fireworks show, the district has established a cleaning support plan and deployed over 160 on-site personnel, including environmental officers and a cleanliness task force, to minimize citizen inconvenience. Temporary trash bins will also be installed around Yeouido to facilitate smooth disposal of various waste generated on-site. After the event, cleaning of surrounding areas, including road washing and garbage collection, will continue.
Furthermore, since severe traffic congestion and inconvenience occur around the event site due to citizens parking their cars along the roadside to watch the fireworks, which can obstruct the view of moving vehicles and pose pedestrian accident risks, the district will strengthen illegal parking enforcement and parking lot guidance. Additionally, foot and vehicle patrols will be conducted on roads near the event site, including Yeouinaru Station area, to prevent illegal street vendors from entering.
Finally, an integrated disaster site support headquarters will be operated to maintain a response system with related organizations, enabling swift response to safety accidents and disaster situations that may occur during the festival.
