The 2030 FIFA World Cup will be held across three continents for the first time in history.
On the 5th (Korean time), FIFA announced that Morocco in Africa and Spain and Portugal in Europe have been selected as the joint hosts for the 2030 World Cup. Additionally, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the World Cup, some matches including the opening game will be held in South America, specifically in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay. The first World Cup in 1930 was held in Uruguay.

FIFA stated, "We plan to celebrate the World Cup and its 100th anniversary across six countries, leaving a unique international footprint." This will be the first time the World Cup is held on three continents. However, the joint hosting by three countries was decided early on due to the increase in the number of participating teams to forty-eight. The 2026 North American World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada in North America.
