Filial Piety Toward Sado Seja... 'Jeongjo Hyo Culture Festival' Held on 7th-8th
Hwaseong-si, Rich Attractions Including 'Hyeollyungwon Cheonwon' and 'Neunghaengcha' at Jeongjo Hyogong Park and Yunggeolleung Area
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 4th that it will hold the 'Jeongjo Filial Piety Cultural Festival,' honoring King Jeongjo's filial devotion to Crown Prince Sado, over two days on the 7th and 8th at Jeongjo Hyo Park and the Yunggeon Tomb area in Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province.
This year's event will feature the reenactment of the 'Hyeollyungwon Cheonwon,' the opening performance 'Jeongjo's Dream, Blossoming,' the royal accession ceremony reenactment called Sawui Ceremony, the Jeongjo Grand King's Procession reenactment along the Hwaseong section, and the Yungneung ancestral rites, the city explained.
In particular, this year's event is characterized by holding the 'Hyeollyungwon Cheonwon (顯隆園 遷園),' which reenacts the process of relocating Crown Prince Sado's tomb to Hwasan, selected by King Jeongjo, at night in accordance with historical verification.
In line with Hyeollyungwon Cheonwon, the city also prepared the themed performance 'Jeongjo's Dream, Blossoming' using LED and laser technology. This performance is a creative play depicting the life story of King Jeongjo and Crown Prince Sado.
On the second day of the event, the 8th, the 'Jeongjo Grand King's Procession,' which reenacts the 1795 Eulmyo Royal Procession?the most splendid parade symbolizing the king's dignity stepping outside the palace and a major spectacle for the people?will take place.
The Jeongjo Grand King's Procession, reenacting the 6.5 km Hwaseong section, will involve 500 personnel and 70 horses, with 250 members of the citizen parade group, the Confucian scholars' procession, also participating.
