Daejeon City to Host 'Companion Animal Culture Festival' from 21st to 22nd
Daejeon City announced on the 4th that it will hold the "2023 Daejeon Companion Animal Culture Festival" for two days starting from the 21st of this month at the Daejeon Companion Animal Park.
The festival will be held under the theme of "Happy companionship between humans and animals." On-site, there will be experiential programs where companion animals and their owners can directly participate, animal protection campaigns, and various side events.
On the first day of the festival (21st), events such as a companion animal fun sports day, trained dog demonstration performances and talk shows, and a children's dog poop picking contest will take place. On the following day (22nd), activities including DOG sports experiences, veterinary health consultations, and zoonotic disease testing for companion animals will be conducted.
During the festival, Daejeon City will operate free experiential booths offering basic grooming care for companion animals, problem behavior counseling and correction, pet studios, companion animal caricatures, and ID tag making.
Additionally, to promote animal protection and the establishment of a mature companion animal culture, campaigns for adopting abandoned animals, companion animal etiquette promotion, and mobile animal registration services will be carried out to help spread animal welfare culture.
Side events will include congratulatory performances by bands and vocalists, a companion animal quiz contest, on-site prize events, and indoor and outdoor playgrounds where companion animals can freely run and play will be operated continuously.

Im Geon-muk, director of the Daejeon Animal Protection Project Office, said, "We hope the festival will serve as a stepping stone for establishing a mature companion animal culture," and added, "We hope many citizens participate in the festival to create special memories with their companion animals."
