Gwangju Science Museum Hosts Event to Commemorate World Space Week
The National Gwangju Science Museum is holding a special event to celebrate World Space Week.
From October 6 to 15, the Gwangju Science Museum, together with the Korea Science and Space Youth Corps, will host a variety of commemorative events including special lectures on space, a photo exhibition, Nuriho rocket-making experience, and celestial observation activities.
The program includes a special lecture titled "Space Debris and Space Technology Startups" by Lee Seong-moon, CEO of Space Lotech, and the "Space Power Korea! Nuriho Photo Exhibition," based on digital materials related to the development and launch of the Nuriho rocket.
At the "Make Your Own Nuriho" corner, participants can create their own Nuriho using paper cups, colored paper, yarn, and other materials, and experience flying it through the wind.
Jeon Tae-ho, Acting Director of the museum, said, "We hope this event at the science museum will help reflect on the significance of World Space Week and serve as an opportunity to dream as future space scientists."
World Space Week is an international event established by the UN in 1999 to commemorate the launch of Sputnik 1, humanity's first artificial satellite, on October 4, 1957, and the announcement of the Outer Space Treaty, the first international treaty for the peaceful use of outer space, on October 10, 1967.
