SK Ecoplant Signs Business Agreement with Incheon Airport Corporation to Recycle Waste at Incheon Airport
SK ecoplant announced on the 4th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Incheon International Airport Corporation to establish a resource circulation economy at Incheon Airport. The signing ceremony held at Incheon International Airport was attended by Park Kyung-il, President of SK ecoplant, Lee Hak-jae, President of Incheon Airport, and other officials.
Under this agreement, the two companies will establish a test bed to produce high value-added recycled products from general, designated, and construction waste generated at Incheon Airport.
SK ecoplant plans to produce various products such as pyrolysis oil and biogas, which are raw materials for aviation fuel and petrochemical products, as well as eco-friendly cement, by utilizing waste resources supplied from Incheon Airport. This is significant in that it transforms waste that had been incinerated or landfilled at Incheon Airport into raw materials for recycled products.
SK ecoplant plans to apply innovative technologies it has developed, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation (DT), to Incheon Airport’s own reclaimed water facilities and resource recovery facilities. Through the AI operation optimization solution for incinerators, developed for the first time in Korea, it will maintain a constant incinerator temperature to reduce pollutant emissions and increase energy recovery rates.
Additionally, SK ecoplant will apply its waste management solution, "WAYBLE," to digitally manage the entire process from waste generation to treatment and resource circulation.
