Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will operate a 1:1 customized exercise guidance program called 'Our Neighborhood Park Gym' to support the healthy lives of its residents.
'Our Neighborhood Park Gym' is a community sports project planned through collaboration between the district and the Nowon-gu Sports Council. Twice a week, a community sports instructor visits parks and riversides equipped with various exercise equipment in the area to provide guidance on the proper use of the equipment along with on-site PT (Personal Training) services.
The district and the Sports Council selected a total of six locations with sufficient exercise equipment and a high number of exercising residents, aiming to operate the project by zones.
The program runs from October 4 to November 30 at the following locations during designated weekday morning hours: ▲Biseokgol Neighborhood Park ▲Gyeongchun Line Forest Trail ▲Danghyeoncheon Neighborhood Park ▲Satgatbong Neighborhood Park ▲Sanggye Neighborhood Park ▲Jungnangcheon Nowon Meeting Square.
The 'Satgatbong Neighborhood Park Park Gym (Junggye Zone),' which opens for the first time on the 4th, operates every Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM for 90 minutes. Four instructors will visit the site to guide the proper use of 24 exercise machines including bench press, sit-ups, pull-up bars, and full-body rowing.
The 'Nowon Meeting Square Park Gym (Hagye Zone),' located at the confluence of Danghyeoncheon and Jungnangcheon, operates every Wednesday and Friday from 9:40 AM to 11:00 AM for 80 minutes, with four instructors coaching on 13 exercise machines. The 'Biseokgol Neighborhood Park (Wolgye Zone)' operates every Monday and Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:20 AM for 80 minutes.
The 'Gyeongchun Line Forest Trail (near Visitor Center, Gongneung Zone)' operates every Monday and Thursday from 10:00 AM to 11:20 AM for 80 minutes; 'Danghyeoncheon Neighborhood Park (Sanggye 1 Zone)' operates every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 AM to 10:50 AM for 80 minutes; and 'Sanggye Neighborhood Park (Sanggye 2 Zone)' operates every Monday and Thursday from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM for 90 minutes.
Residents who wish to participate can use the service free of charge by visiting on the designated days and times in comfortable workout attire without prior registration.
Meanwhile, the district is actively promoting physical activity by visiting various neighborhoods. To increase the utilization of parks as health resources, it operates a mobile physical activity equipment rental service called 'Exercise at Nowon Store.' A 1-ton truck carrying 32 types of activity equipment tours eight major parks in the area, offering rentals and physical activity programs. During the pilot operation from April to June this year, a total of 2,268 people used the service, averaging 61 users per day.
There is also a 'Healing Walking' program for seniors aged 65 and older. The district has developed walking courses of 30 minutes per day and 120 minutes per week by neighborhood, currently operating in 10 neighborhoods, with plans to expand citywide next year. Recognizing these efforts to improve residents' health and quality of life, the district was awarded the Grand Prize at the 2023 Korea Healthy City Awards on the 14th, marking its fifth consecutive year of receiving this honor.
