Contract Signed Between Peru Ministry of Transport and Communications and Government
KOTRA will support winning the operation consulting contract for the new airport in Peru, worth 34 billion KRW.
On the 4th, KOTRA announced that it has agreed with Korea Airports Corporation to promote the 'Chinchero-Cusco International New Airport Operation Consulting' project in Lima, Peru. The project scale is approximately 26 million USD (about 34 billion KRW).
This project is being carried out through an intergovernmental contract involving the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Peru, KOTRA, and Korea Airports Corporation. From this month until September 2026, over the next three years, the project will undertake ▲airport trial operations and comprehensive operation planning ▲airport certification, equipment, and procurement support.
The 'Chinchero-Cusco International New Airport Project,' which will serve as the gateway to Machu Picchu, the birthplace of the ancient Inca civilization, began in 2019 when the consortium 'Team Korea,' consisting of Korea Airports Corporation and four other Korean companies, was selected as the Project Management Office (PMO) to oversee design review, contractor selection, and overall project management. Since then, the Hyundai Construction consortium has been carrying out the new airport construction project, with foundational work completed. Currently, structural construction of the terminal, runway, and control tower is underway.
