North Korea announced on the 27th that it has decided to deport U.S. Army Private Travis King, who defected to North Korea.
Korean Central News Agency reported on the same day, "The relevant authorities of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have decided to deport U.S. Army soldier Travis King, who illegally intruded into the territory of the Republic, in accordance with the laws of the Republic."
The agency stated, "The investigation of U.S. Army soldier Travis King, who was detained after illegally intruding into the territory of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the Joint Security Area of Panmunjom on July 18, has been completed."

It added, "According to the investigation by the relevant authorities of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Travis King confessed that he illegally intruded into the territory of the Republic due to his resentment against inhumane abuse and racial discrimination within the U.S. military, as well as his disillusionment with the unequal American society."
