Korean Red Cross-Seoul Metro Community Sharing 'Happiness Together'
Korean Red Cross-Seoul Metro, Sign MOU on 27th to Promote Sustainable Social Contribution Projects
Mutual Cooperation in Five Areas Including Volunteer Activities, Healthy Donation Culture Expansion, and Love Blood Donation
The Korean Red Cross (Chairman Kim Cheolsu) announced on the 27th that it signed a social contribution agreement with Seoul Metro (President Baek Ho) to jointly promote sustainable social contribution projects based on an organic cooperative system.
The agreement ceremony held at the Korean Red Cross Seoul Office in Jung-gu, Seoul, was attended by Korean Red Cross Chairman Kim Cheolsu, Seoul Metro President Baek Ho, and officials from both organizations.
The agreement includes mutual cooperation in five major areas: ▲volunteer activities ▲spreading a sound donation culture ▲blood donation and life protection campaigns ▲emergency relief activities ▲and other cooperative projects.
According to the agreement, Seoul Metro will sponsor 5 million won to support the ‘Pink Box of Hope’ for low-income female adolescents who face difficulties purchasing essential feminine products due to economic problems.
Starting with this sponsorship, Seoul Metro plans to continue regular annual support to help adolescents' healthy physical and psychological growth.
After an online survey of employees in October, the Pink Box, including feminine hygiene products and health hygiene information leaflets, will be assembled and delivered to the sponsored recipients along with encouragement message cards written by employees.
Seoul Metro also plans to actively promote the spread of a sound donation culture by conducting a space donation campaign within subway stations. Using promotional media owned by Seoul Metro such as restrooms, exit walls, stairs, and destination information displays inside stations, promotional materials conveying the importance of everyday sharing will be continuously displayed.
One hundred stations with high passenger density among subway lines 1 to 8 will be selected to post 1,815 promotional materials inside restrooms. For this, at Myeongdong Station, exit guidance to the Korean Red Cross will be added to the digital comprehensive guide map, and wrapping advertisements will be placed on the station exit walls and stairs. Subtitle advertisements promoting blood donation participation and helping neighbors in need will be broadcast on destination information displays installed on platforms and concourses of lines 1 to 8.
Additionally, as part of the blood donation and life protection campaign, Seoul Metro will conduct an employee blood donation campaign for two months from September to October at its headquarters and five vehicle depots. Although Seoul Metro has independently operated a blood donation bank by receiving blood donation certificates and supporting both internal and external needs, this agreement will enable a blood donation event for all employees, and the blood donation certificates will be donated to the Korean Red Cross.
Furthermore, both organizations will mutually cooperate to assist socially marginalized groups in the community through emergency relief activities for disaster victims and volunteer activities.
Kim Cheolsu, Chairman of the Korean Red Cross, said, “We have high expectations for the various social contribution activities that will be jointly promoted through this agreement signed to fulfill social responsibilities between the two organizations,” adding, “The Korean Red Cross will actively strive to become a beacon of hope in our society together with Seoul Metro, which is practicing ESG management.”
