Schedule Approved Amid People Power Party's Absence
Ruling Party Opposes Opposition's Unilateral Handling
The personnel hearing plan for Kim Haeng, the nominee for Minister of Gender Equality and Family, was passed solely by the opposition party on the 27th. The personnel hearing for nominee Kim is scheduled to be held on the 5th of next month.
The National Assembly's Gender Equality and Family Committee held a plenary meeting that day and submitted and approved four agenda items, including the "Request for Personnel Hearing for Cabinet Member Nominee (Minister of Gender Equality and Family Kim Haeng) and Adoption of the Personnel Hearing Plan." According to the approval that day, the personnel hearing for nominee Kim will be held at 10 a.m. on the 5th of next month.
At the meeting, only members of the Gender Equality and Family Committee from the Democratic Party, including Chairwoman Kwon In-sook, attended. It was reported that members from the People Power Party decided not to attend the plenary meeting, citing the Democratic Party's proceeding with the hearing without bipartisan agreement. In the afternoon, ruling party members, including Jeong Gyeong-hee, the ruling party's secretary, are scheduled to hold a press conference opposing the Democratic Party's unilateral handling of nominee Kim's personnel hearing.
