Jeonnam International Sumukh Biennale Surpasses 200,000 Cumulative Visitors in 26 Days
Unique Art Exhibition Receives Praise... Benefits for Ticket Holders Also Play a Role
The 2023 Jeonnam International Sumukh Biennale is receiving praise for its high-quality and distinctive art exhibitions.
According to Jeonnam Province on the 27th, the number of online and offline visitors surpassed 200,000 just 26 days after the opening of the Jeonnam International Sumukh Biennale. It is expected that the target of 400,000 visitors will be easily achieved.
It is analyzed that this is due to the high evaluation of works such as Oh Yong-gil’s "Four Seasons," which depicts the changes of the seasons and the growth process of life; Kwon Se-jin’s "1,482 Drawings Composing the Sea," which captures various emotions and vitality; and Sung Tae-hoon’s "Seonyudo Waltz," which took six years to complete.
Various benefits provided to ticket holders also play a part. With one ticket, visitors can view all other exhibitions, including paid exhibition halls (Mokpo Culture and Arts Center, Jindo Namdo Traditional Art Museum) and the Jeonnam Provincial Museum where the Lee Kun-hee Collection is on display. Free parking is also available at Daeheungsa Temple in Haenam, where a special exhibition is held.
Until the Sumukh Biennale ends on October 31, presenting the ticket at a total of 97 locations including major tourist attractions such as the Suncheonman International Garden Expo, accommodations, and restaurants allows visitors to receive various linked discounts, making it an opportunity not to be missed.
Visitors have shared on social media (SNS), communities, and cafes that “each exhibition hall offers the enjoyment of seeing artworks filled with the individuality of the artists,” and “there are many fun activities such as making fans with ink painting and art markets, making it perfect for weekend outings.”
