Imsil-gun to Offer Discounts on 'Hometown Love Donation Cheese Gifts' Starting Next Month
Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, is expected to gain greater popularity by offering Imsil Cheese, a popular gift item of the Hometown Love Donation Program, at a 20% discounted price starting next month.
According to the county on the 27th, providing Imsil Cheese at a 20% discounted price is an unprecedented and bold decision, considering that it is usually not sold at a discount. This move is expected to act as a catalyst to activate the Hometown Love Donation in Imsil.

Since surpassing 400 million KRW in hometown love donations last May, the donations have continued steadily.
It is analyzed that the donation surge was largely due to cheese and yogurt, representative specialty products of Imsil-gun, being chosen as differentiated gift items by nearly 50% of donors compared to other local governments.
Accordingly, the county, in cooperation with the supplier Imsil N Cheese Cluster Project Group and Imsil Cheese Agricultural Cooperative, has decided to offer the representative gift item, Imsil Cheese, at a 20% discounted price to promote the Hometown Love Donation Program during the Chuseok holiday and year-end season.
Starting next month, those who donate to Imsil-gun through the Hometown Love Donation Program and select Imsil Cheese as their gift will be able to receive the cheese at a 20% discounted price.
For example, if someone donates 100,000 KRW, they can receive a cheese gift worth approximately 37,000 KRW using 30,000 KRW donation points.
The county expects that since donations of 100,000 KRW account for 75% of all donors, the 20% discounted gift will provide significant benefits to many donors.
Additionally, existing cheese and yogurt gift sets will also be offered at a 20% discount.
The county particularly expects that the promotional effect of differentiated gift items will be maximized through the discounted offering of the representative cheese and yogurt gifts, further enhancing the competitiveness of Imsil-gun’s Hometown Love Donation Program.
County Governor Shim Min said, “We are very grateful to the donors who support the county,” and added, “We want to give back in some way by packing more of Imsil Cheese, the county’s representative specialty product, to express our gratitude for the heartfelt support.”
The Hometown Love Donation Program allows individuals to donate to local governments other than their registered address, such as their hometown, and receive tax deductions and gift items (30% of the donation amount). The donation limit is up to 5 million KRW per person annually, with a full tax deduction for donations up to 100,000 KRW and a 16.5% tax deduction for amounts exceeding 100,000 KRW.
Donations raised through the Hometown Love Donation Program are used for welfare projects that improve residents’ well-being, such as supporting vulnerable groups and youth development and protection, enhancing local culture, arts, and health, and revitalizing local communities.
