Full Opening of 'Seobu Uihangdoro' Osan Section Today
Completion of Gajang-Dugokgan 3.14 km after 7 years
The section from Gajang to Dugok on the 'Western Bypass Road,' which runs north-south through the west side of Segyo 2 District in Osan-si, Gyeonggi-do, has been fully opened.
Osan City announced on the 27th that traffic will be allowed from 10 a.m. as the construction of the previously unopened section of the Western Bypass Road from Chopyeong-dong to Nambu-daero has been completed.
The construction of the Western Bypass Road from Gajang to Dugok, part of the Osan Segyo 2 District's metropolitan traffic improvement plan, began in 2016. Following the partial opening of the Gajang intersection in November last year and the section from Gajang intersection to Chopyeong-dong in June this year, the opening of the Chopyeong-dong to Nambu-daero section completes the project with a total length of 3.14 km and 4 to 6 lanes in both directions.
The Western Bypass Road is a main arterial road connecting Suwon, Hwaseong, Osan, and Pyeongtaek, planned to alleviate traffic congestion on the existing National Route 1. The Suwon and Hwaseong sections have already been opened, and now the Osan section has been connected.
Earlier, on the 26th, Osan City and Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) held an opening ceremony at the Chopyeong-dong Western Bypass Road site to mark the completion of the entire section. The ceremony was attended by key figures from politics and government, including Lee Gwon-jae, Mayor of Osan, and Lee Han-jun, President of LH.
In his congratulatory speech, LH President Lee Han-jun said, “The full opening of the Osan section of the Western Bypass Road is expected to drive the development of the Osan region.”

Mayor Lee Gwon-jae also expressed his pleasure, saying, “I am glad to welcome the full opening of the Osan section of the Western Bypass Road in line with the full-scale move-in to Segyo 2 District,” and added, “We will continue to work actively with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and LH to resolve transportation issues for citizens, including the full opening of the Gyeongbu Line crossing road and the Eastern Expressway.”
