The Most Annoying Holiday Nagging Is About Employment
A survey revealed that 3 out of 10 Gen Z (those born from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s) job seekers have no plans to visit their hometown during the upcoming Chuseok holiday. The main reason they do not visit their hometown is because they are 'busy preparing for employment.'
On the 26th, the recruitment content platform JinHakSa Catch announced the results of a survey on 'Chuseok holiday plans' conducted with 2,404 Gen Z job seekers. The survey was conducted online from the 14th to the 20th of this month.
According to the survey results, 32% of all respondents said they do not plan to visit their hometown during this Chuseok holiday. Among the reasons for not visiting their hometown, 'busy preparing for employment' was the most common answer at 44%. This was followed by ▲ wanting to rest (21%) ▲ having plans such as travel or personal schedules (12%).
Among those who answered 'busy preparing for employment,' when asked what activities they plan to do for job preparation, the responses included ▲ checking job postings (54%, multiple answers allowed) ▲ writing self-introduction letters (49%) ▲ preparing for interviews (18%).
The most disliked holiday nagging was 'employment nagging' such as "Has ○○ gotten a job this time?" at 47%. 'Dating/marriage nagging' such as "Are you seeing a boyfriend/girlfriend?" or "When will you get married?" ranked second at 17%. 'Comparisons with others' like "○○ got a job at a large company and earns over 50 million won annually" came in third at 15.9%.

Meanwhile, when asked until when it is acceptable to receive pocket money from relatives, the highest response was 'until employment' at 36.1%. This was followed by ▲ until graduation from university (35.6%) ▲ until becoming a minor (16%) ▲ even after employment (12%).
