'Ulsan Youth Hope Housing' Launches Architectural Design Competition for 5 Sites
Issue 230 Targeting Move-in by June 2026
Ulsan City will hold a design competition for Youth Hope Housing starting from the 26th. The competition will run until October 10 and covers five locations: Bangeo-dong, Samsan-dong, Yangjeong-dong, Dal-dong, and Baekhap Youth Hope Housing.
The Youth Hope Housing supply project is a pledge of the 8th elected administration, aimed at providing economically vulnerable youth with homes in urban areas that have good transportation and convenient facilities, enabling them to focus on their studies and work.
The five sites open for architectural design competition this time involve a budget of 43 billion KRW to supply 230 units. The project is scheduled to begin construction in March 2025, be completed by May 2026, and have residents move in by June.
Additionally, the Seongan-dong Youth Hope Housing, which includes a Hope Shopping Center, has completed its framework construction and is expected to be completed in February next year, with move-in scheduled for April. The Sinjeong-dong Youth Hope Housing has completed its design services and is planned to start construction in October this year.
Furthermore, the Taehwa-dong Youth Hope Housing is about to select the winning design for the architectural design competition scheduled for October.
An official from Ulsan City stated, “Youth Hope Housing is a pledge of the 8th elected administration, and we are doing our best to provide quality public housing for youth.” He added, “In addition, to quickly supply homes to more youth and newlyweds, we are planning public housing under new construction purchase agreements, and during the 8th administration’s term, we plan to invest 20.4 billion KRW to supply an additional 120 units.”

Ulsan City plans to expand the proportion of public housing from the current level of 4% to about 10% according to the ‘2030 Ulsan Metropolitan City Comprehensive Housing Plan’ to ensure housing stability for youth, newlyweds, and other housing-vulnerable groups.
