Virtual Asset Misdeposit Incident on Upbit... Approximately 20 Million Won Involved
Unable to Distinguish Aptos from Other Virtual Assets
A virtual asset misdeposit incident occurred at the domestic virtual asset exchange Upbit.
According to the virtual asset industry on the 25th, a coin disguised as the virtual asset Aptos (APT) was recognized as Aptos and deposited into an Upbit account the day before. The misdeposit amount is about 20 million KRW.
The incident reportedly occurred because Upbit could not distinguish between the real Aptos and virtual assets issued based on Aptos.
Upbit announced the previous day that "an abnormal deposit attempt was detected during the Aptos deposit and withdrawal monitoring process" and temporarily suspended Aptos deposits and withdrawals.
