What Are Gender and Stereotypes in Media? ... Dongmyeong University Hosts Human Rights Special Lecture
The Human Rights Center of Dongmyung University held the '4th Human Rights Special Lecture' on the 22nd, focusing on gender stereotypes and cases revealed in Disney's movies and animations.
During the event, topics such as ▲ understanding the structural context of social discrimination based on gender ▲ media literacy ▲ and exploring practical attitudes for a dignified daily life for all were covered.
Additionally, Do Woo-kyung, a commissioned instructor from the Busan Women's Family and Lifelong Education Promotion Institute, gave a lecture on understanding the structure and context of social discrimination in daily life and improving and practicing gender sensitivity.
The lecture was conducted using various content such as animations that are fun and easy to access, receiving positive responses from the attending students.
Jang Yoo-jin, an invited professor at Dongmyung University Human Rights Center, said, “It was an effective education that made us think about gender stereotypes learned and consumed through media and raised gender sensitivity to put it into practice.”

The Dongmyung University Human Rights Center will hold various events and campaigns under the theme of 'Human Rights' from October 4 to 6 during the on-campus autumn festival ‘Ipalcheongchun’ in cooperation with the Busan Youth Counseling Welfare Center and the Busan Labor Rights Center.
