Shilla Duty Free Shop Obtains Quality Management Certification ‘ISO 9001’
Hotel Shilla Accelerates ESG Management
Shilla Duty Free, operated by Hotel Shilla, announced on the 25th that it has obtained the global quality management system certification 'ISO 9001,' accelerating its ESG management efforts.
ISO 9001 is an international standard for quality management systems established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It systematically evaluates whether the entire process of products and services meets customer requirements and complies with international standards, granting certification accordingly.
Hotel Shilla declared this year as the inaugural year of ESG management and is intensifying its ESG activities. Following the emphasis on ESG management at the regular shareholders' meeting in March, it launched an ESG committee and published a sustainability management report in June.
In the TR division responsible for the duty-free business, pursuing the essence of duty-free distribution, it obtained the ‘Authorized Economic Operator (AEO)’ certification in 2014 and the ‘Smart Logistics Center’ certification in 2022.
For various practices aimed at customer satisfaction, it acquired the ‘Consumer-Centered Management (CCM)’ certification and the ‘Information Security and Personal Information Protection Management System (ISMS-P)’ certification in 2019. In the fields of safety, health, and environment, it obtained the ‘Occupational Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001)’ certification in 2018 and the ‘Environmental Management System (ISO 14001)’ certification in 2022. In the same year, it also acquired the ‘Compliance Program (CP)’ certification for fair trade, securing external certifications in customer-centric business, information security management, and legal compliance.
In the hotel & leisure sector, it obtained the ‘Environmental Label Certification’ under the Ministry of Environment’s environmental mark system in 2017 and acquired the ‘Breathable Space Indoor Air Quality Certification’ in 2018, striving to expand environmentally friendly indoor spaces.

A Shilla Duty Free official stated, "The ISO 9001 quality management system certification this year is fundamental to ISO management systems and serves as a cornerstone for strengthening customer-centered ESG quality management by returning to the basics. We plan to further strengthen ESG management by acquiring additional certifications related to the duty-free industry in the future."
