Gwangju Seo-gu Holds Price Countermeasure Committee Meeting Ahead of Chuseok Holiday

On the 21st, Seo-gu District Office in Gwangju Metropolitan City held a Price Countermeasure Committee meeting at the Nanum Hall on the 3rd floor of the Seo-gu Office to alleviate the burden on citizens caused by rising prices and to create a stable consumption environment.

According to Seo-gu on the 22nd, the Price Countermeasure Committee shared recent price trends, the progress of Seo-gu's price stabilization measures, and measures to promote seafood consumption, and exchanged opinions on policy proposals and implementation plans for price stabilization.

Kim Ikang, head of Seo-gu District Office, said, “Seo-gu operates a Price Countermeasure Situation Room to manage price stability during the Chuseok holiday season,” adding, “We will strengthen local price stabilization measures by monitoring price trends of Chuseok seasonal products and supervising and cracking down on violations such as price tag violations and unfair service fee increases.”

Meanwhile, Seo-gu has been carrying out various activities to stabilize prices, having been selected as the best institution for two consecutive years in the “Local Price Stabilization Management Evaluation” hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

Seo-gu supports the activation of “Good Price Businesses” that provide quality services at affordable prices by subsidizing water and sewage fees and supporting hygiene products through demand surveys for each business.

It also regulates matters related to price labeling of manufactured goods (including agricultural, livestock, and seafood products) and prohibits the display of designated recommended retail prices due to unfair acts by businesses to protect consumers and promote fair trade.

Additionally, every Tuesday, three price monitoring agents conduct on-site price trend surveys for 45 items and disclose the results the next day on the district office’s “Shopping Basket Prices” website.
