Busan Office of Education Helps Parents of Prospective Middle School 1st Graders Understand the Free Semester System
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will hold a ‘2024 School Year Busan Free Semester System Understanding Enhancement Parent Training’ for about 300 parents of prospective first-year middle school students on October 11 at 2 p.m. at the Lotte Department Store Gwangbok Branch Culture Hall.
This training aims to increase the understanding of the Free Semester System among parents of prospective first-year middle school students to help their children adapt to school life as they enter middle school.
To address educational disparities between regions, the Office of Education will prioritize parents from the Western Busan area as training participants. For parents outside the Western Busan area and those who find it difficult to visit the site on the day, the training will be streamed live on the Office of Education’s Secondary Education and Curriculum Team YouTube channel, and the video will be uploaded later.
The training on the day will be conducted as special lectures related to the Free Semester System. Shim Min-hye, a senior teacher at Bunpo Middle School, will lecture on the topic ‘2022 Revised Curriculum and the 2024 Busan Free Semester System,’ and Kim Moon-seon, a senior teacher at Busan Jungang Middle School, will lecture on ‘Understanding the Free Semester System through Q&A.’
Participants on the day will also receive textbooks containing materials such as ‘A Preview of Middle School’ and ‘An Overview of the Middle School Curriculum.’
Those wishing to participate can apply online on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 9 a.m. on the 25th, and selected participants will be notified via text message on October 6.
