Park Kwang-on "Today in the plenary session, a brake on Yoon administration's reckless actions... Prime Minister dismissal motion passed"
Park Kwang-on, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, announced on the 21st that he would pass a motion to dismiss Prime Minister Han Duck-soo at the National Assembly plenary session.
At the policy coordination meeting held at the National Assembly that morning, Floor Leader Park said, "Today, through the National Assembly plenary session, we will put the brakes on the reckless actions of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration," adding, "We will pass the motion to dismiss the Prime Minister."
He pointed out, "The biggest problem with this administration is that there are no brakes," and said, "There are no aides around the president who speak frankly, and the People Power Party does not even have the will. The prosecution and the Board of Audit and Inspection only look at the president's mouth." He continued, "The structure does not allow the people's voices to be reflected in state affairs," and added, "The people have judged that it is difficult to expect any change in the administration. The Democratic Party will gather the will of the people and fulfill its responsibility."
Floor Leader Park emphasized, "The essence of the motion to dismiss the Prime Minister is a strong warning from the people to the president," and said, "Once it passes in the National Assembly, the president must humbly accept it. I hope the president will fully consider the opinions of the people and the National Assembly and appoint a Prime Minister who can unify the nation."
Regarding nominee Lee Kyun-yong for Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, he pointed out, "His awareness and sensitivity to gender equality do not meet the standards of the times. We also found significant issues regarding integrity and morality." He said, "The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is a very important position that observes the climate of the era, not just the weather of the day," and added, "The people have sufficiently judged the suitability of the Chief Justice. The Democratic Party will act on the people's will through a vote." If the report on the review of Lee's nomination is adopted at the full meeting of the National Assembly's special personnel hearing committee that morning, a vote is expected at the plenary session in the afternoon. For approval, a majority of the total members must be present, and a majority of those present must agree.
Regarding the impeachment motion against prosecutor Ahn Dong-wan, who was involved in the Seoul city government spy fabrication case, Floor Leader Park said, "We will pass the impeachment motion against the prosecutor who committed illegal acts," adding, "The people's demand is to establish social justice and sound the alarm against the abuse of prosecutorial power." He also said, "We will pass the laws guaranteeing legal labor union activities and the Broadcasting Act in accordance with the people's will."
