Police Transfer Kim Eo-jun to Prosecution 9 Months After Requesting Reinvestigation
Broadcaster Kim Eo-jun, who was sued for defamation by former Channel A reporter Lee Dong-jae, has been referred to the prosecution. This comes nine months after the prosecution requested a reinvestigation in December last year.
According to the police on the 20th, the Seoul Seongbuk Police Station sent Kim to the prosecution the previous day on charges of defamation (spreading false information) under the Information and Communications Network Act.
Kim is accused of making statements on his program "Kim Eo-jun's News Factory" from April 6 to July 8, 2020, suggesting that former reporter Lee Dong-jae urged Lee Cheol, former CEO of Value Invest Korea (VIK), to say that he gave money to former Roh Moo-hyun Foundation Chairman Yoo Si-min. Former reporter Lee filed a defamation lawsuit against Kim in February last year regarding this matter.
