The Millennium Forest will be established to promote eco-friendly ecological restoration and realize climate change response and carbon neutrality by creating a large-scale ginkgo forest on idle land (under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Environment) near the Daecheong Dam Yeseuro in Miho-dong, Daedeok-gu, which boasts a pristine natural landscape.
Starting next year, over two years, Daejeon City plans to plant transplanted ginkgo street trees and others on an 8-hectare ecological restoration site (idle land), and create a themed forest, large flower gardens, walking trails, an observatory, rest areas, and a lawn plaza.
Once the project is completed, Daejeon City expects this forest to become a nationwide tourist attraction.
To this end, Daejeon City will sequentially carry out administrative procedures such as budget allocation in the second half of this year, detailed design services, consultations with related organizations, and activity permits in the first half of next year, and will officially start the project in the second half of next year.
