View original imageOn the same day, Chairman No stated in a congratulatory speech at the 'Good Brain 2023 Conference' hosted by Asia Economy at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Jung-gu, "I expect this to be a meaningful occasion to diagnose prevention, diagnosis, and the latest treatment trends for brain health, and to discuss policy directions to activate digital healthcare."
The theme of the conference was "Korean-style Dementia Overcoming Technology, Policy Issues, and Challenges." Regarding this, Chairman No said, "There is much implication in the theme. Korean society is now on the verge of entering a super-aged society beyond aging," and added, "This Good Brain Conference, which looks at the present and future of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment methods for brain health, has special significance."
He continued, "The rapid aging of the population has caused a sharp increase in brain diseases such as cognitive impairment," explaining, "Among representative brain diseases, the number of dementia patients has increased by 100,000 in the past two years, reaching approximately 950,000. It is expected to exceed 1 million soon."
He also emphasized the need for effective measures as related medical expenses are increasing. Chairman No pointed out, "Brain diseases such as dementia and Parkinson's disease not only harm the patient's human dignity but also make the family's life difficult."
