Gwangju Office of Education Conducts Training for Elementary and Secondary Science Education Officers
Guidance on Using the 'Intelligent Science Lab ON Platform' and More
The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 19th that it conducted the ‘2023 Elementary and Secondary Science Education Staff Training’ for about 300 science teachers in elementary and secondary schools.
This training, aimed at promoting the use of the newly launched ‘Intelligent Science Lab ON Platform’ this year, was organized to enhance teachers’ understanding and utilization of the platform.
To this end, manuals were distributed, providing related information on how to use the platform and guidance on ways to utilize science classes tailored to each school.
The ‘Intelligent Science Lab ON Platform’ was developed according to the Ministry of Education’s 4th Comprehensive Science Education Plan from 2020 to 2024 and was distributed this year. It supports student-centered, practical scientific inquiry activities in connection with the ‘Intelligent Science Lab.’
The platform will provide ▲ a wide range of data science inquiry services ▲ the latest teaching and learning materials linked to the curriculum and science education policy materials ▲ sharing of inquiry classes opened by teachers and sharing of student science inquiry data to foster an open inquiry culture ▲ promotion of science teacher networks and spaces for student discussions and debates.
Meanwhile, safety management education for science laboratories was also conducted during this training. Guidance was provided on the preparation and operation of legally required management logs for creating a safe science class environment, as well as measures to respond to safety accidents during experiments.
Additionally, the lectures were designed to enhance the safety management capabilities of science teachers, receiving strong positive responses from schools.
