Jindo-gun, Governor Kim Young-rok Holds Dialogue with Residents... A Time for Communication
Expected to Lead as a Key Hub Belt on the South Coast... Jindo-gun Anticipated to Take the Lead
Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do held the '2023 Dialogue with Residents' on the 18th at the gymnasium in Jindo-eup with Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do.
According to the county, about 250 people participated in the dialogue, including Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, Kim Hee-su, Mayor of Jindo-gun, Jang Young-woo, Chairman of Jindo County Council, Kim In-jung, Provincial Assembly member, heads of various institutions and social organizations, related officials, and about 100 online participants.

View original imageFollowing the welcome speech by Kim Hee-su, Mayor of Jindo-gun, Governor Kim Young-rok presented the direction of the 8th elected administration to realize communication administration with the residents of Jindo-gun and listened to various opinions including difficulties and suggestions from the residents.
In particular, he highly evaluated various achievements of Jindo-gun, such as being selected for the Jeonnam-type Balanced Development 300 Project contest worth 30 billion KRW and winning the grand prize for the Jindo Green Onion Burger at the 2023 Jeollanam-do Active Administration Best Practice Competition in the first half of the year, which recognized the taste and quality of Jindo green onions nationwide.
The county residents proposed a request for 500 million KRW in provincial funds needed for facility replacement and improvement projects due to the aging of the traditional Hanok experience center at the representative site, Unlim Sambyeolcho Park, and repair projects for damaged irrigation and drainage channels in Osan Field, Gogeun-myeon.
Regarding the proposal to change the route of National Road No. 18 for the construction of the Sinjodo Bridge, a long-awaited project for Jindo residents including those of Jodo-myeon, Governor Kim Young-rok responded that upgrading to a national road is necessary first for the construction of Sinjodo Bridge, and that they are currently proposing to the National Assembly and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to change the starting point of National Road No. 18 to Hajodo and upgrade it to a national road.
In addition, various opinions from all walks of life on local issues were presented, including expanding operating expenses support for the village community support center, providing shipment compensation for abalone aquaculture farms, and upgrading Jindo-gun’s local fishing port.
Governor Kim Young-rok of Jeollanam-do said, “I consider it meaningful to have a dialogue with residents in Jindo, the birthplace of Namdo art and the island of treasures,” and added, “We will thoroughly review the opinions raised today and do our best to ensure that the valuable opinions of Jindo residents are reflected through communication with related departments.”
Mayor Kim Hee-su stated, “With the selection for the Jeonnam-type Balanced Development 300 Project contest, we will do our best to create a landmark unique to our county that combines culture, arts, and tourism industry to create jobs and further attract population.”
