[2023 Asia Construction Awards] Hanwha Construction Division, Creating Park-Style Eco Town with Over 40% Landscaping Ratio
Asia Economy Grand Prize - Eco-friendly Housing Sector
Hanwha Corporation's Construction Division received the Asia Economy Grand Prize in the eco-friendly housing category for ‘Forena Jeju Edu City,’ supplied to Jeju English Education City, where numerous international schools are located.
Forena Jeju Edu City is being developed in Boseong-ri, Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo-si, Jeju Island, consisting of 29 buildings ranging from one basement floor to five above-ground floors, with units sized between 84 and 210㎡, totaling 503 households. Move-in is scheduled for January 2025.
This complex is especially anticipated for the synergy between its prime location within the education city and the power of its residential brand. It is located just a 5-minute drive from Jeju English Education City, which has emerged as a new affluent residential area in Jeju, based on the highest level of educational environment in Korea. Currently, four international schools have opened in Jeju English Education City: St. John's Beria Academy Jeju (SJA), North London Collegiate School Jeju (NLCS), Branksome Hall Asia (BHA), and Korea International School Jeju Campus (KIS).
Forena Jeju Edu City offers a comfortable living environment with a total floor area of 117,616㎡ (equivalent to 16 soccer fields) and buildings up to five stories high. Notably, the complex features landscaping over approximately 36,000㎡ (about 3.4 times the grass area of Seogwipo World Cup Stadium), securing a landscaping ratio of over 40%. The layout is designed as a car-free zone on the ground level, creating a park-style eco town. It is the only complex in the project area to have separate main and secondary entrances, reducing congestion during commuting and school hours. Additionally, an underground parking lot with 1.9 parking spaces per household ensures ample parking availability.
Inside the units, a ceiling height of 2.6 meters?30 cm higher than typical apartments?provides an exceptional sense of openness. Furthermore, Forena’s distinctive design includes the use of 250mm noise-reducing layers and 60mm cushioning materials to minimize noise between floors.
With the rising preference for international schools, housing prices within the English Education City are increasing. However, the sale price for a 84㎡ unit in Forena Jeju Edu City starts at approximately 670 million KRW, which is considered affordable compared to surrounding market prices. To ease the financial burden on actual buyers, a fixed first deposit of 10 million KRW and interest-free financing for the entire intermediate payment are also offered.
