Special Forces Summer Tournament Held After 6 Years, Successfully Concluded
Dragonfly announced on the 18th that the ‘Special Force Summer Tournament,’ which has been held since last August, concluded successfully.
The Special Force Summer Tournament, revived after 6 years, held preliminary rounds in Busan and Seoul to select the 1st and 2nd place teams. The four teams that advanced to the finals?▲Jjajang Jjamppong, ▲Gae Jin Young Dong Hoon, ▲Secret Society, and ▲Romantic Team?competed fiercely in a best-of-11 format, playing 5 rounds each in the first and second halves. The final match between Romantic Team and Gae Jin Young Dong Hoon went all the way to match point.
The Romantic Team, who took home the championship trophy, caused an upset by defeating other teams with professional players boasting impressive careers, despite all members except player Kim Jun Woo having no prior tournament experience. The winning Romantic Team was awarded a total prize of 5 million KRW and three permanent weapons, while the runner-up Gae Jin Young Dong Hoon team received 2.5 million KRW and two permanent weapons.
Player Bae Jun Young of the Romantic Team said, “While practicing, I thought winning would be difficult because there are many skilled players in Special Force, but the results turned out well,” adding, “Our team practiced a lot, even fighting among ourselves. We are grateful to everyone who cheered for us.”
The finals were broadcast live on Dragonfly’s official YouTube channel, featuring thrilling competition commentary by caster Jung So Rim and analyst On Sang Min, who represent the golden age of Special Force esports. Various events were held, including offering rare Special Force items to on-site spectators and YouTube viewers, attracting enthusiastic attention from the audience.
A Dragonfly representative said, “We appreciate the many applications and on-site participation despite the tournament being held after a long time,” and added, “We will continue to create opportunities to communicate with users through such events.”
