This year, 306 participants from 186 teams, including domestic university (graduate) students and job seekers, participated, marking a 70% increase in the number of participants compared to last year. The top six teams that passed the online preliminary round in August were evaluated in the finals held at KT Convergence Technology Institute in Seocho-gu, Seoul. The judging was based on tasks using AI technology to predict population density and alarm types respectively, using wireless base station equipment statistical data and wired network equipment alarm data disclosed by KT.

KT and ETRI comprehensively evaluated data understanding, model creativity, and presentation skills to select one grand prize team, two excellence award teams, and three merit award teams. The two organizations awarded a total prize money of 10 million KRW to the winning teams and decided to provide preferential benefits during KT recruitment.

The grand prize was awarded to the 'Yuseongbyeol Team (KAIST),' which demonstrated a high understanding of the task and creative ideas. The excellence awards went to the ‘Baekjijjang Team (Gachon University, Hanbat National University, Hansei University, Brigham Young University graduates)’ and the ‘KT-WIZ Team (Hanyang University, Dongguk University, Chung-Ang University),’ while the merit awards were given to the ‘Gwanghwamun Yeonga Team (Kookmin University),’ ‘Devbong Team (Chungbuk National University, Korea University of Technology and Education, Hannam University, Hanbat National University graduates),’ and ‘Parksom Bakdul Team (Konkuk University graduates).’

Lee Jong-sik, Senior Executive Director of the Infrastructure DX Research Institute at KT Convergence Technology Institute, said, "This year again, the participants’ fresh ideas and passion for stable network operation stood out," adding, "KT will continue to focus on technology development to lead the network AI field and activate the AI ecosystem through cooperation with industry, academia, and research by hosting hackathons and other initiatives.”
