4 Greek Rescue Workers Dispatched to Libya for 'Daehongsu' Die in Traffic Accident
Four Greek rescue workers dispatched to Libya, where over 10,000 people died due to dam collapse caused by a massive flood, lost their lives in a traffic accident.
On the 17th (local time), major foreign media outlets cited Osman Abdeljalil, the Minister of Health of the government overseeing eastern Libya, reporting this news.
Minister Abdeljalil explained, "Nineteen rescue workers were involved in an accident while traveling from Benghazi to Derna, the flood site, resulting in four deaths. The remaining 15 rescue workers were injured, seven of whom are in critical condition."
The accident occurred when the vehicle carrying the rescue workers collided with a vehicle carrying a Libyan family. Among the occupants of the vehicle that collided with the rescue team’s vehicle, three died and two are in critical condition.

The Greek government also conveyed the accident news through a statement citing the Greek Embassy in Libya. However, they stated that the circumstances of the accident are unclear and that the rescue workers did not sustain serious injuries.
