40s Man Assaulting and Abusing Female Police Officer Sentenced to Prison with Probation
A man in his 40s who caused a disturbance after drinking and punched a female police officer in the face was sentenced to a suspended prison term in the first trial.
According to the legal community on the 17th, Shin Sang-ryeol, chief judge of the Criminal Division 1 at the Seoul Northern District Court, sentenced A (45) to one year in prison with a two-year suspension on the 7th for obstruction of official duties. The court explained the sentencing by stating, "He has a prior record of imprisonment for similar offenses and has been sentenced to prison multiple times for similar crimes, yet he did not restrain himself and committed the crime, making the culpability very serious," but also noted, "He appears to be remorseful and has symptoms of alcohol dependence."
