The Creative Music Festival is a creative OST competition utilizing IPs from 34 comics and webtoons supported by the Korea Manhwa Contents Agency. It took place on the 14th at the screening room of the Korea Manhwa Museum. The grand prize was awarded to the Dear Blossom team’s "One more step," inspired by the webtoon "Morning of Halo." The gold prize went to the Trebongbong team’s "Two Friends on My Shoulder," and the silver prize was awarded to the Wooju Hippie team’s "Old Words."
The winning works of the 2023 Bucheon Manhwa Awards, the highlight of this festival, can be seen at the Korea Manhwa Museum’s special exhibition hall. Visitors can directly view the grand prize-winning work "Family of a Gambling Addict" by artist Lee Hajin, the newcomer award-winning "Jonathan’s Voice" by artist Jung Haena, and the overseas work award-winning "The Silence Factory" by Th?a Rosemang and Sandrine Revel.
Artist Lee Hajin’s "Family of a Gambling Addict" depicts conflicts with family members trapped in the quagmire of stock trading, evoking empathy from readers. Jung Haena’s "Jonathan’s Voice" portrays two people from ordinary backgrounds becoming friends and learning how to view society and its people in ways they had not known before. "The Silence Factory" is a fable-like work addressing the issue of child sexual abuse.
The exhibition of the National Student Comics Contest, which sparked controversy last year with the satirical comic "Yoon Seok-yeol Car," was canceled. The organizers explained that to protect students amid concerns over excessive political disputes, this year’s winning works from middle and high school students in the National Student Comics Contest will not be disclosed.
Although the student exhibition was canceled, various events such as webtoon seminars, special lectures, and talk shows with artists will be held throughout the festival period.

Additionally, a seminar on the hot topic of AI in the webtoon industry titled "Changes and Prospects AI Brings to Webtoon Education and Creation Systems" will be held. Part 1 will focus on "Educational Changes and Prospects in AI and Comics/Webtoon Departments," and Part 2 will cover "Changes and Prospects in AI and Comics/Webtoon Company Production Systems," featuring various discussions.
Notably, at 4:30 p.m. that day, the grand opening ceremony of the 26th Bucheon International Comics Festival and the 7th Gyeonggi International Cosplay Festival will take place in the lobby of the Korea Manhwa Museum. The ceremony will include a red carpet event with Bucheon Mayor Jo Yong-ik and others attending alongside cosplayers. Domestic and international comic artists and industry professionals will add significance with the opening declaration and the Bucheon Manhwa Awards ceremony.
Suhoon Yoo, the general director of the Bucheon International Comics Festival, said, "This year’s comics festival will focus on the theme ‘Opening Hearts’ amid a social atmosphere wounded and suffering from various recent issues, emphasizing the healing process for marginalized groups and those embracing them. We will do our best to make it an enjoyable festival where people open their hearts through comics, communicate, comfort each other, and restore their daily lives."
