'Yongsan Fall Death Police' Drug Purchase Suspicion... Suspected Seller Arrested
A current police officer who died from a fall in an apartment in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, was found to have been involved in drug transactions, and a suspect believed to be the seller has been arrested.
On the 14th, Judge Jeong In-jae, head of the warrant division at the Seoul Western District Court, conducted a detention hearing for Moon (35), who is accused of violating the Narcotics Control Act (psychotropic substances), and subsequently issued an arrest warrant. Judge Jeong explained the reason for issuing the warrant as "concerns over evidence destruction and flight risk."
Moon is suspected of selling drugs to Sergeant A, affiliated with the Gangwon Provincial Police Agency, who died after falling from an apartment in Yongsan-gu on the 27th of last month. The police recently arrested Moon and applied for an arrest warrant. Moon is known to deny the charges of drug sales and other allegations.
The police suspect that the group involved in Sergeant A's death gathered together and used drugs. They analyzed the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the apartment where the gathering took place at the time of Sergeant A's fall and identified one additional participant. The total number of people presumed to have attended the gathering is 22. Lee (31), an employee of a large corporation who hosted the drug meeting, and Jeong (45), a tenant who provided the venue, were arrested on the 11th for violating the Narcotics Control Act. Additionally, on the 5th, the police conducted a search of a club in Itaewon, which some members of the group reportedly visited.

To confirm whether the deceased Sergeant A also used drugs, the police requested toxicology tests following an autopsy conducted by the National Forensic Service on the 29th of last month. Based on the initial verbal opinion, the cause of Sergeant A's death was determined to be "multiple blunt force injuries."
