They added, "Our company and the artist hope that this will not be linked to politics and cause controversy under any circumstances, and we request restraint from excessive slander, defamation, or insults against the artist, which are illegal acts."
On the 24th of last month, Kim Yuna of the band Jaurim voiced criticism regarding Japan's start of discharging contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant.
Kim Yuna posted a photo with the words 'RIP 地球 (Earth)' and wrote, "For the past few days, I have been engulfed in anger. The cinematic dystopia of Blade Runner + 4 years is beginning to become reality. The landscape of LA in the movie where radioactive rain does not stop and no light comes through. On a day like today, I think about hell."
Kim Yuna's SNS comment section became a hot topic as both supportive and critical opinions poured in simultaneously.
In response, criticism of Kim Yuna's remarks continued from the ruling party. Former Saenuri Party lawmaker Jeon Yeo-ok said, "When the Fukushima nuclear accident occurred in 2011, 'untreated contaminated water' was discharged. This time it is 'treated water.' Why were you silent then and angry now?" she sharply questioned.
Later, on the 12th, Kim Ki-hyun, leader of the People Power Party, targeted Kim Yuna, saying, "Aren't there too many entertainers without common sense? Why do these things happen? Isn't it ultimately because of bullying, stigmatization, and cartel-like division of interests? It is a bad practice that must not be repeated."
