Chuseok Special Seongbuk Love Gift Certificates Worth 9 Billion Won Sold Out in About 20 Minutes
Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) issued Seongbuk Love Gift Certificates worth 9 billion KRW ahead of Chuseok on the 13th, receiving great response from Seongbuk residents as the certificates sold out in just over 20 minutes.
On that day, Mr. Kim**, a Seongbuk resident from Gireum 1-dong, age 36, said, "Every time I try to purchase Seongbuk Love Gift Certificates, if I connect even a little late, they sell out quickly and it’s hard to buy them. This time, I logged into the app 10 minutes early and was able to purchase the full 500,000 KRW. It will help with my children's academy fees and preparing food for the Chuseok holiday. Many parents around me were disappointed because the gift certificates sold out in less than 30 minutes and they couldn’t buy any. I will request the district office to sell a larger amount."
The district office will issue an additional 7 billion KRW worth of gift certificates on September 20 at 9 a.m. Consumers can purchase gift certificates at a 7% discount off the face value, up to a maximum of 500,000 KRW per person.
Previously, the 35 billion KRW worth of gift certificates issued from January to July also sold out successfully on the same day. Seongbuk-gu is issuing Seongbuk Love Gift Certificates totaling 61 billion KRW this year. Of this, 42 billion KRW is issued by Seongbuk-gu itself, the largest amount among Seoul’s autonomous districts.
Seongbuk Love Gift Certificates have played a catalyst role in revitalizing local businesses, which have been restrained due to high prices, high interest rates, and high exchange rates even after COVID-19. Demand has increased recently amid the high inflation situation, with certificates selling out immediately upon issuance.
Seongbuk Love Gift Certificates can be easily purchased by installing any of the five payment apps: ▲Seoul Pay+ ▲T-money Pay ▲Shinhan SOL ▲Shinhan Play ▲Money Tree. The holding limit is 1.5 million KRW, and the certificates can be used at affiliated stores within Seongbuk-gu.
