Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that it will promote the "Chuseok Community-wide Donation Sharing Campaign" from September 18 to October 10 to share warmth and ensure that no one is left out, allowing everyone to have a generous holiday season.
The "Donation Sharing Campaign" is an event that collects food and daily necessities stored at home and delivers them to low-income families. It is held every holiday season with the purpose of sharing daily necessities received as gift sets before and after the holiday with neighbors in need.
Residents who wish to participate can donate food items such as ▲canned food ▲canned beverages ▲ramen ▲rice ▲drinks and daily necessities such as ▲toothpaste, toothbrushes ▲soap ▲detergent ▲toilet paper at sharing boxes set up at 18 district community centers, designated base institutions in each neighborhood, 85 public and private daycare centers, and 9 welfare centers. However, fresh foods that may spoil at room temperature, frozen or refrigerated foods, and side dishes are excluded.
The donated items collected through this campaign will be delivered to vulnerable groups such as elderly living alone, disabled persons, and multicultural families through the "Yangcheon-gu Food Bank & Market Center."
The Yangcheon-gu Food Bank & Market Center, which distributes the donated items, is a permanent sharing institution where low-income and marginalized residents can select and receive 4 to 5 items once a month from food and daily necessities donated by individuals and companies. Currently, about 2,500 households, including basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income groups, use the center.
In addition, the district is making efforts to establish a culture of neighborly care by promoting a "Relay Donation Campaign" that encourages a virtuous cycle of sharing by discovering large communities such as apartment complexes and schools. Organizations wishing to participate can contact the Welfare Policy Division of the district office or the Yangcheon Love Welfare Foundation.
During the last Lunar New Year Donation Sharing Campaign, 13,830 items of food and daily necessities worth approximately 32,195,000 KRW were donated and delivered to neighbors in need through the Yangcheon-gu Food Bank & Market Center.
