Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) held a variety of events on the 12th at Gwangjin Square to commemorate the '24th Social Welfare Day.'
Social Welfare Day is a legally designated commemorative day on September 7th each year to promote understanding of social welfare and to boost the morale and encourage the activities of social welfare workers.
This year marks the 24th Social Welfare Day ceremony, which was held in two parts with about 500 social welfare workers and residents in attendance.
The first part of the ceremony began with a Nanta and choir performance, followed by awards for social welfare meritorious persons, reading of the ethics declaration, commemorative speeches, slogan chanting, and commemorative photo sessions. In particular, awards were given to 17 individuals including local community security council members, social welfare facility workers, and public officials who contributed to the development of social welfare.
The second part was a welfare expo, featuring experience booths and welfare promotion booths where residents could participate. Twenty-two social welfare organizations and groups took part, offering services such as legal counseling for vulnerable groups, welfare center quizzes, disability awareness experiences, and health consultations.
