The event, themed ‘Now It’s Time for Youth to Gather in Pohang,’ proceeded with ice-breaking activities, an introduction to Pohang City’s youth policies, presentations of outstanding youth startup cases, and a talk concert & forum with Mayor Lee Kang-deok.
The forum was designed as a youth-centered participatory event that broke away from formal frameworks, allowing young people to increase familiarity through self-introductions. It also featured introductions to helpful youth policies and presentations on ‘How to Live Well as Youth in Pohang,’ sharing experiences among the younger generation in a time of communication and harmony.
Especially in the final talk concert & forum, participants freely shared various topics, from trivial daily matters felt through balance games and open chat rooms to hopes for Pohang as local youth and ideas for youth policies.
This first youth policy forum in Pohang was a time of empathy and participation where young people shared their concerns, proposed policies themselves, and gathered diverse opinions, receiving great responses from the participating youth.
Mayor Lee Kang-deok said, “Seeing the passionate participation of young people made me feel that Pohang’s future is even more hopeful,” adding, “We will continue to share and communicate key policies and create Pohang’s future together with the youth.”
The ‘2023 Pohang City Youth Week,’ held under the theme ‘We Are the Fresh Youth’ in celebration of Youth Day, will feature various events where youth take center stage, including a lecture by Kim Seon-tae, the officer in charge of Chung TV, on the 14th (Warming-up Day), a youth mentor talk concert with a human resources manager from EcoPro BM on the 15th (Cheer-up Day), and a PLPL Market & youth musician busking on the 16th (Youth Day).
