Hanwha Aero Challenges UK Self-Propelled Artillery Project
UK Participates in Global Defense Exhibition
Showcases Latest Self-Propelled Howitzer K9A2
"Accelerating Global Expansion"
Hanwha Aerospace will participate in the 'Defense and Security Equipment International (DSEI)' exhibition held in London, UK, from the 12th to the 15th.
According to Hanwha Aerospace on the 12th, the company will set up a 315㎡ exhibition hall at this event and showcase the K9A2 self-propelled howitzer equipped with the latest technologies such as an automated turret, along with the K10 ammunition resupply vehicle.
The K9A2, unveiled in the UK this time, can fully automatically load ammunition and propellant charges, enabling rapid firing of more than 9 rounds per minute. Additionally, it is equipped with composite rubber tracks instead of traditional steel tracks, reducing vibration and noise for stable long-distance travel.
Hanwha Aerospace has thrown down the gauntlet for the UK's Mobile Fires Platform (MFP) project with the K9A2. The MFP project involves purchasing 116 next-generation self-propelled howitzers to replace the UK's main self-propelled howitzer, the AS90, with a budget of approximately 1.2 trillion KRW.
Hanwha Aerospace has formed 'Team Thunder' with local UK defense industry companies to implement a localized procurement strategy. Following the selection as the preferred bidder for Australia's Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) Redback project and next-generation cooperation on unmanned ground vehicles (UGV) in Poland, the company plans to accelerate its global business.
In addition to the K9, Hanwha Aerospace will exhibit a product lineup for the UK, which seeks to expand defense industry cooperation, including the Redback armored vehicle, Cheongeom surface-to-surface guided missile, Cheonmu multiple rocket launcher, and lithium battery systems for submarines.
