On the 11th, Gyeonggi Province announced at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office in Suwon that it will actively work to revitalize the consumption of regional specialties with four areas: Wando, Sinan, Haenam, and Jindo counties.
Accordingly, Gyeonggi Province and the four regions will expand the supply of specialties through online platforms, local food, and group catering. Additionally, to revitalize the seedling industry, Gyeonggi Province will conduct test cultivation of the patented purple rose (Deep Purple) during the winter in the Jeonnam region.
Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, said, "I am pleased to welcome the county heads and deputy county heads of the four Jeollanam-do counties that signed the win-win agreement with Gyeonggi Province," adding, "According to the win-win agreement, we will work hard to help promote sales and create demand for Jeonnam regional specialties."
He continued, "Not only food, but we also plan to hold events related to Dasan Jeong Yak-yong with Gangjin County," adding, "Gangjin is where Dasan stayed for a long time, and Namyangju is his hometown, so we hope to exchange not only food but also spiritual aspects."
In response, Shin Woo-cheol, Mayor of Wando County, said, "Thank you for giving us this opportunity during such difficult times," and added, "We hope to continue cooperating on ways to achieve mutual growth with Gyeonggi Province."
Park Woo-ryang, Mayor of Sinan County, expressed gratitude, saying, "Thanks to the connection made through the regional win-win agreement, the market and county heads have promised practical support," and showed expectations by saying, "If Gyeonggi Province continues to help, it will give hope to the people in the region."
The meeting was held in accordance with the ‘Win-win Development Agreement for New Coexistence and Co-prosperity between the Capital Region and Local Areas’ signed by Gyeonggi Province and Jeonnam in October last year.
At that time, Gyeonggi Province and Jeonnam agreed on six items for mutual development, including expanding the supply of Jeonnam eco-friendly agricultural products to Gyeonggi schools and jointly opening and operating a win-win marketplace for excellent agricultural specialties.
To revitalize the consumption of specialties, Gyeonggi Province will expand sales channels through the Market Gyeonggi online shopping mall and live commerce broadcasts.
Offline, specialty consumption will be promoted through sales at local food stores in Goyang City and lunch menu offerings at the provincial office cafeteria. Accordingly, from the 12th, Gyeonggi Province will sell Jeonnam specialties that are not produced in the Gyeonggi area on Market Gyeonggi.
Meanwhile, the Gyeonggi-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services agreed to conduct test cultivation of the purple rose (Deep Purple), which the province is fostering, this winter in Sinan County, Jeonnam.
