'Agriculture Future and AgTech Industry' Conference... To Be Held at Korea Agriculture Expo on the 15th
On the 15th, a conference on the future of Korean agriculture and the AgTech (agricultural technology) industry will be held at the '2023 Korea Agriculture Expo.'
The Korea Agency of Education, Promotion and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries announced on the 11th that the '2023 Korea Agriculture Expo' will be held for four days from the 14th to the 17th at the aT Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul. The Korea Agriculture Expo, first held in 2019, is the country's representative exhibition related to agriculture and rural areas, now in its fifth edition.
In particular, the 'New AG WAVE' conference held on the 15th will consist of sessions on new technology innovation, future agriculture, and the last blue ocean of humanity, the farm business. It is expected to be a great opportunity to explore the future of Korean agriculture and the AgTech industry.
The keynote speech, titled "Innovation and Future of Agriculture in the Era of Web 3.0 and Metaverse," will be delivered by Hyun Won, Dean of the Metaverse Graduate School at Sogang University. He will present a vision of agriculture evolving through the convergence of agriculture and the metaverse into new innovations and diverse business expansions, forecasting future agriculture from crop cultivation management to new agricultural product commerce and farm tourism commercialization. Professor Ryu Chang-wan of Hanyang University's Department of Industrial Convergence will analyze startup opportunity factors from an entrepreneurial perspective under the theme of farm business startup design, introducing promising fields such as agricultural robots, indoor farms, alternative meat, and precision agriculture as viable business models, and suggesting the right direction for startups.
The first session will feature Professor Kim Jin-hwa of Sogang University's Department of Business Administration discussing data-based agricultural system construction, Seong Je-hoon, Head of the Digital Agriculture Promotion Division at the Rural Development Administration, covering data agriculture and the use of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in agriculture, and CEO Hwang Dong-joo of LabSeed presenting agricultural innovation using NFTs. These topics will foster discussions on new technology innovation and future agriculture, engaging with the audience.
The second session will guide the audience through the current status and prospects of farm business with presentations by CEO Kim Hye-yeon of N.Thing on the present and future of indoor farm business, CEO Lee Won-jun of AValve on AI-based smart farm operation solutions, and CEO Gong Kyung-ryul of FoodFarm on food ingredient distribution innovation using big data.

Dean Hyun, delivering the keynote speech, stated, "The 2023 Korea Agriculture Expo is an important event that presents the direction of future agriculture through agricultural technology integrated with IT technology in the Web 3.0 era and signals the era of eco-friendly precision agriculture. Future agriculture will stand at the forefront of the convergence era as a future industry for humanity and simultaneously a core industry for national security."
