From 11 AM to 4 PM on the 16th, at Yongsan Family Park 2nd Square... A festival featuring various experiences and performances themed on 'Books' and 'Environment'
Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Park Hee-young) will hold the "2023 Yongsan-gu Book Festival" on the 16th at the 2nd Square of Yongsan Family Park to celebrate September, the "Month of Reading."
Under the theme "The Green Library We Painted," local residents participate directly from planning to operation, offering various programs and experiential activities related to "books" and the "environment."
The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and involves eight libraries in the district, including public libraries, the Children's English Library, and Namsan Library, as well as seven related organizations focusing on environmental themes.
The opening ceremony begins at 11 a.m. on the main stage with a pre-performance by the Yongsan-gu Boys and Girls Choir and a magic show, followed by the declaration of opening, congratulatory speeches, awards for reading promotion contributors, and a bubble experience performance.
After the opening ceremony, various experiential programs, performances, and a stamp tour continue. Fifteen booths are set up around the venue, offering activities such as ▲ making tumblers, book pouches, and handkerchiefs ▲ an English picture book exhibition on the global environment ▲ endangered animal board games and balloon art experiences ▲ metaverse Yongsan history plogging ▲ face painting ▲ environmental quizzes, with each organization running its own experiential programs.
At 12:30 p.m., the "Joy of Reading Aloud" event will be held with KBS announcer Jung Yong-sil and local residents. The event includes a reading performance by announcer Jung Yong-sil and a reading contest featuring 6 to 8 pre-registered resident (family) teams.
The author meeting is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., featuring a lecture by author Lee Seung-min, famous for the "Invincible Cat Detective Squad" series, followed by a "Children's Reading Golden Bell" quiz. Thirty pre-registered elementary school students will participate, answering questions based on the lecture content and selected books.
Participants in the stamp tour can also receive gifts. Visitors who collect five or more stamps, given at experiential booths, and visit the operation headquarters will receive a souvenir (a reusable shopping bag). Additionally, an on-site event offers slushies to those who prove they used a tumbler at the venue.
Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, "On this autumn day, the season of reading, we have prepared a festival to communicate and unite with residents through books," adding, "As this festival is enjoyable for all ages, from children to seniors, we ask for your great interest and participation."
