Daegu City Recruits 12 Members for 'Forest Disaster Rapid Response Team' to Combat Wildfires and Landslides
Daegu City is selecting and operating a "Forest Disaster Rapid Response Team" to establish a swift response system as forest disasters such as wildfires and landslides occur year-round and are increasing in scale.
The "Forest Disaster Rapid Response Team" is an elite force for forest disaster response, operated for the first time by Daegu City among local governments nationwide. It began operations in the second half of 2022 to ensure the safety of citizens from various forest disasters. The team was deployed to all wildfire sites in Daegu and contributed to the early containment of the nighttime wildfire on Apsan Mountain last March, which could have escalated into a large-scale wildfire.
The Forest Disaster Rapid Response Team is recruiting until 6 p.m. on the 15th. Anyone with a resident registration address in Daegu can apply, but since proactive activities are required to protect citizens' lives and property, strong physical fitness and mental resilience are necessary.
The selection process includes document screening, physical fitness tests, and interviews, with a total of 12 members to be selected. Detailed application procedures can be inquired about at the Daegu City Forest Greenery Division, Forest Resources Team, or checked on the Daegu Metropolitan City website announcement.
With the incorporation of Gunwi County in July this year, Daegu's forest area has approximately doubled (from 48,338 hectares to 94,516 hectares), necessitating thorough preparation against forest disasters such as wildfires, landslides, and forest pests. After selection, the team will undergo continuous physical training and specialized education to be promptly deployed to forest disaster sites for proactive response.
